The Herons suffered a shock upset to Atlanta in the opening round of the MLS Cup play-offs last year, and history threatened to repeat itself early when Emmanuel Latte Lath scored in the 11th minute.

The second half brought much of the same until Fafa Picault snatched victory with a superb header in the 89th minute.
